Part of our dyslexia therapy program includes a small lesson on the history of the English language.  This is especially important for children with dyslexia because our language is so confusing.  We are primarily influenced by the  Anglo-Saxon, Greek, Latin and French languages.

In the maintenance phase of therapy, we work through a program called Word Detective: Discovering the History of the English Language.  This reviews our reading and spelling rules, and delves deeper into our history to form a stronger connection to our words.

The most important date that I was tested on over and over in my studies, was the Norman Conquest in 1066.  A wonderful STA parent sent this to me, and I wanted to share!  Thank you!

Very Interesting!

I had just returned from the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) annual conference, which was excellent. One of the talks I attended was on the topic of the use of Vision Therapy (VT) as a treatment for dyslexia. That same day I had a question from a parent on VT pop into my DyslexiaHelp in-box.
